Energy-Aware Task Scheduling for Edge Computing in Intermittent-Power Environments

Abstract
Edge deployments in areas with unreliable grid supply must schedule work around power availability rather than assuming it. We formulate energy-aware task scheduling under stochastic power interruption and propose a checkpointing policy that bounds expected work loss. Against a 14-month power-availability trace from rural Bangladesh, the policy completed 34% more tasks than energy-oblivious scheduling.

Self-Healing Concrete with Bacterial Additives: Performance Under Tropical Conditions

Abstract
Bacterial self-healing concrete has been validated largely under temperate conditions. We assess crack-healing performance under the temperature and humidity regime of coastal Bangladesh across an 18-month exposure programme. Healing efficiency reached 78% for cracks below 0.4 mm, but fell sharply above that width and degraded with chloride exposure — a constraint not evident in temperate trials.
